How to Prepare
Resume screening
This program is expected to receive hundreds of Applications. And since they have certain rules for what resumes should look like, most resumes submitted will look somewhat the same. So here are some things that should make a candidate’s resume look great.
-
Format: Stick to black and white Times New Roman (or similarly conservative serif fonts), size 11. And don’t include your photos, you might get disqualified right away.
-
Content: 60% of your resume should be about your working experience; focus on achievements, not job descriptions. Remember this rule of thumb: Quality over quantity – only include the most impactful achievements in your career, and try to fit your resume into one A4 page.
-
Presentation: Stick to this bullet point structure: (A) the achievement – (B) details of that achievement, such as how it was realized – (C) data and benchmarks to explain why that achievement is impressive . Find out more about the structure in this video. Moreover, don’t digress, be straightforward and to the point.
BCG Casey
This is a simulation where you will be a real consultant, solving the simple business case with the BCG Chatbot. The test will look like a chat interface, in which you will chat with the bot, answer multiple questions and record the final recommendation to the CEO of the business. The test will have the usual flow of a case solving from structuring, hypothesis, to math and analysis.
The test will last about 30 minutes, following a 1 minute video recording of the final recommendation. You can take the test at home on your computer, and make sure you have all technical set up clean.

Screening interview (mini-case)
After the screening test, the candidate proceeds to the “Screening Interview”. This round only lasts 30 to 45 minutes for each candidate, and although it sounds short, it’s enough time for the interviewer to scan your leadership potential and problem-solving ability.
-
Fit Interview: In this part, the interviewer will typically dig deep into the interviewee’s experience and your compatibility to BCG’s value. This experience may well be derived from your resume, so make sure to have a story behind every bullet point you list.
-
Case Interview: The most feared obstacle for anyone who wants to be a consultant. In just about 30 minutes, your consulting qualities will be put to the test as you are put through a hypothetical consulting project by the interviewer. Be sure to check out the Case Interview 101 – The Online Guidebook on all the basics you need to know and master before a case interview. To ace this cornerstone of consulting recruitment, you will need to sharpen your business intuition and fundamentals, learn tips and techniques to ease your way through, as well as improve your mental math skills (you won’t get to use a calculator in the interview). Check out AI caseGPT right here to have unlimited cases for your own period of practice.
Program syllabus
If you are accepted, you will go through a structured journey designed to simulate the day-to-day life of an actual BCG consultant over the course of 1–2 days.
-
Phase 1: The Welcoming Event
It is designed to act as a high-value networking forum where admitted candidates interact with senior BCG partners, project leaders, and program alumni. This phase gives you immediate, transparent exposure to the internal community and culture before any technical casework kicks off.
-
Phase 2: Learning Workshop
An intensive workshop focused entirely on mastering BCG’s proprietary structured problem-solving methodologies. You will participate in live case-solving practices and interactive exercises that teach you how to break down complex business problems.
-
Phase 3: The Immersion Program (The Core Challenge)
Now this is the time you will collaborate with teammates to start solving business cases and present for the judges. You will have consultants guide you through the structuring process.
-
Phase 4: Emeralds Program Graduation
To celebrate all your hard work, the program wraps up with a networking event alongside partners and consultants. This is a huge opportunity to gather advice, hear personal stories across various industries, and get a clear picture of what life as a consultant truly looks like.
Key Takeaways
Of course this is not just a fun 2-days experience for nothing. BCG takes the application seriously to give you a much more advantages:
-
Direct Recruiting Advantage:
This should be the biggest privilege any candidate wants. You will be skipped the initial resume screening and the harsh BCG Casey, straight into a first-round interview invitation.
-
1-on-1 Mentorship:
Because you'll interact with so many consultants throughout the program, you'll have ample opportunity to chat about everything from career paths to work-life balance. Who better to guide you than management consultants who know the ropes?

Regional Peer Network:
Of course with most students this could be a huge opportunity to connect with top-tier student talents across the nation and make some friends.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum time commitment?
While there is no rigid minimum hourly commitment, BCG highly emphasizes you to attend full immersion in all virtual and in-person events to maximize the program's value. This should show how commitment and dedicated you are to the role.
What if my application is rejected?
Luckily, if you are not accepted into the Emeralds Program, you are not banned from regular BCG recruiting. Typically, if you fail a standard application to an MBB firm, they implement a temporary 12-month period.
Because these specialized cohorts receive an exceptionally high volume of applications, a rejection here only applies to the program itself; candidates are still highly encouraged to apply through standard full-time/internship tracks.
